Throughout any learning experience, assessment is a key element. It is important that a teacher is able to monitor how well students are doing and how well they are grasping concepts presented.
Throughout these activities the teacher or teachers are constantly observing and interacting with students. This conversation and observation is perhaps the best ongoing assesment. The teacher can guide what concepts to spend more time on as he or she makes these observations.
In addition, the activities in this unit have products that can easily be assessed. The following pieces could be collected for assesment purposes.
- Story Map of Mercy Watson
- Plot DIagram of Mercy Watson

- Animal ABC Book Pages
- Creative Writing Story Maps
